MISSION STATEMENT

The Jamaican High Commission, headed by the High Commissioner, constitutes Jamaica's official representation in the United Kingdom and it will continue to carry out the following broad objectives in keeping with Jamaica's Foreign Policy: 

  i) Safeguarding the interests of Jamaican nationals within the geographical jurisdiction of the Mission; 
  ii) Promoting the strengthening of bilateral relations between Jamaica and the seven countries falling under the purview of the Mission - Denmark, Finland, Norway, Portugal, Spain, Sweden and the United Kingdom - and monitoring developments in those countries within the wider context of the European Union. 
  iii) Promoting Jamaica's meaningful participation in multilateral bodies under the purview of the Mission: Commonwealth, CABI, ICO, ICCO IMO and ISO.
  iv) Monitoring all consular, political and economic developments in respect of points (i) - (iii) above and advising the Government on any action which is deemed to be in the national interest.
  v) Support and co-ordinate the activities of the Jamaican Agencies - JAMCO, JAMPRO, JDF, JIS, JTB
     
The above objectives are pursued within an organisational structure comprising three (3) main areas:-
